Inscription:
The Phoenix is one of the most important symbols of death and rebirth in the world. The Phoenix chooses the moment of its own death, cremates itself, is burned and rises again out of its own ashes. The origin of the Phoenix is obscure. It was known in ancient Egypt, where it was believed to appear only once in five hundred years. They believed it was devoted to the Sun God, Ra, and performed rites in his temple at Heliopolis. The Chinese know the Phoenix as well, and believe that its eggs are the fruits of fairies. They also hold that it appears only in times of peace and prosperity, and even then if their lands are governed with justice and wisdom.
